"Energy-actuated PDW."
―In-game short description

The Volt is a Pilot energy submachine gun featured in Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends, returning in Titanfall III as a personal defense weapon. It is a weapon that fires concentrated bolts of high energy and it has lower recoil than other SMGs, PDWs and even assault rifles.[1] The Volt is often utilized by Stalkers and Spectres.

Overview[]

The Volt is an energy personal defense weapon with unusually low recoil and high accuracy. It functions as both an assault rifle and a fully-automatic DMR due to good hip-fire accuracy, low recoil and high accuracy overall. The long-range capability of the Volt PDW is offset by a damage dropoff from all energy weapons.

Pros and cons[]

Pros
  • Hipfire accuracy is unusually precise, allowing consistent hits at range.
  • Low recoil, even compared to assault rifles.
  • Fast bullet velocity, as usual with other energy weapons.
  • Can equip a sniper scope and use it effectively, as usual with other weapons.
Cons
  • Small damage drop-off offsets the long-range capabilities of the weapon.
  • One-shot kill spots are nonexistent due to low damage per-shot.
  • Projectiles are visible by its blue tracers.

Trivia[]

  • In the campaign mission The Strategic Way, the Volt, dropped from enemies are commonly equipped with a sniper scope.
    • This implies that Volt PDW functions as a fully-automatic sniper rifle.
  • The designation for the Volt has been changed from SMG to PDW. This is because of its low recoil, high accuracy even compared to assault rifles.
