Titan Fall Fanon Wiki

Hi Titanfall 3 schizophrenics! Welcome to the blog post from Respawn Entertainment and Gravity Well Games about the development of Titanfall III!

We have to make the difficult decision to not release the entire game right now as our devs felt that rushing the game are bound to disappoint fans of the series with missing features, game-breaking glitches, and other unfinished stuffs. Therefore, the game's release date has been pushed back to 7th August 2023 to give more time for the oven for the final installment on the series.

The campaign[]

The single-player mode of Titanfall 2 while well-received, was too short and not replayable enough. Our dev team are working on the new campaign, although the majority of the work are done in other departments (multiplayer and the sandbox).

Our new campaign for the final game are designed in mind with branching storylines for each level, similar to Henry Stickmin series for the non-linearity. The campaign also takes on both sides (IMC and Militia respectively), as in the first Titanfall game. We also added boosts and Pilot Kits scattered on the map to the campaign, with boosts being dropped from dead enemy Pilots, making the game kinda like Halo with both equipment and armor abilities at the same time.

The multiplayer[]

The multiplayer of Titanfall 2 was a casualty of hacker attacks (specifically, denial-of-service attacks) especially in 2021 alongside the first one (which was delisted a year ago). However, the community built a mod called Northstar client that essentially adds custom servers to Titanfall 2's multiplayer mode with new gamemodes such as Fastball. Unfortunately, the Northstar client is only available on personal computers, as of the result, the console version of Titanfall 2 multiplayer was left to dark.

As the result of the success of the unofficial Northstar client, we are trying to get better and more secure servers as well as bringing gamemodes from the modded client and most importantly, the server browser. In-addition to that, Custom Games mode (inspired from Halo) has been planned to be added at launch.

The sandbox[]

The weapon sandbox of Titanfall III are nearly finished and it still have more to work in, but as usual, they do change over time even after launch, so it will never be "truly finished". The weapon sandbox are one of the part of the sweeping changes that we're making for the final installment in the attempt to freshen up the Titanfall gameplay.

We designed the weapon sandbox of Titanfall III based on the combination between Titanfall andTitanfall 2 as a base, combined with Apex Legends (in terms of ammo and alternate fire modes) and Halo series (in terms of weapon diversity in terms of stats and functions). So that's why the Havoc Energy Rifle in this game have chain-lightning effect that arcs to multiple targets, the Prowler SMG have its unique version of burst-fire mode that fires a full burst only if held long enough, otherwise a partial burst or even single shot, and the C.A.R. have the ability to change ammo type that has different stats to mix them up with, and some of the weapons were scrapped for sandbox redundancy.

As for both new and existing weapons, one of the sweeping changes are most weapons are now projectiles with hitscan at close-range (similar to the hitscan-projectile hybrid mechanic in Insurgency) and no damage drop-off for some weapons. Another sweeping changes are bullet ricochet and wall penetration are being introduced to most weapons with most of them are subtle (ricochets only happens on very shallow angles and wall penetration are limited and deals much less damage). And finally, the alternate fire-mode as in Apex Legends are introduced to some weapons.

For the loadouts, we changed it from Titanfall 2 of having primary slot for primary weapons, secondary slot for secondaries, and tertiary slot for anti-Titan weapons, to having primary/secondary/tertiary slot that accept any weapons, allowing the player to use more than one primary/secondary/anti-Titan weapons and the introduction of Tier 3 Pilot Kits that are mostly based on the movement.

Regarding the cancellation of Titanfall/Apex single-player spinoff[]

Recently (or more accurately, 2 February 2023), the development for the Respawn's secret project TFL (short for Titanfall Legends), a game that supposed to be a single-player Apex Legends experience, was unfortunately cancelled.[1] However, the development of Titanfall III hasn't been affected by the cancellation and hopefully the teams including Mohammad Alavi behind the recently cancelled Titanfall Legends can get into the development of Titanfall III to use the resources from that into our project.
