The Electrified Javelin is a Pilot anti-materiel melee weapon that can double as a throwable weapon. First appeared in Titanfall 3 as a boost weapon.

Overview[]

Both a melee weapon and thrown weapon at the same time, this Pilot weapon is used often by Frontier Militia in the Outlands terrorists, local militias, and Mercenary Syndicate criminals, though it is also being occasionally used by some IMC soldiers to enhance their melee capabilities and allows Pilots to do lunge attacks that can effectively deal damage to Titans and other large targets like Reapers, and charging its melee attack creates a small chain lightning effect that damages nearby enemies in-addition to increased damage against one target at the cost of faster battery drain. While airborne, the user (especially Pilots) can perform aerial drop attack with this electrified pole weapon, dealing more damage than lunge attacks on direct hits. The user can also wield a pistol or sidearm while using this electric rod.

However, like boost weapons and due to the fact that the weapon is both a melee weapon and a throwable weapon at the same time, the weapon occupies the boost weapon slot.

The weapon has limited battery; its charge drains on every successful hits and when it eventually runs out, the weapon is just useful as standard Pilot's melee attack except throwable and lunge attacks still there (albeit deals the same damage as standard melee attack from Pilots in Titanfall 2).

The weapon can be thrown to cause Pilots, Titans, and other large targets like Reapers to automatically fire their weapons and causes Grunts and other infantries to drop their weapons after auto-fire period and it is a one-hit kill on direct hits with any infantry type and high damage on large targets (e.g. but not limited to Titans and Reapers) and in-addition to that, it can instantly cripple any Titan limbs it hits (and it takes two throws to sever them completely) and damage other limbs with its chain lightning effect as well as detonating any priming status effects, which in turn damages affected targets even more. However especially in campaign, when thrown, the weapon's battery is instantly dropped to zero percentage and it can no longer be re-charged (e.g. no longer affected by Ammunition Resupply boost nor being stored in some weapon racks that has a charger for these electric rods) unless the weapon's battery is at 10% and below.

The user can also use electrified javelins to deflect projectiles and missiles back to the enemy if timed correctly though deflecting an energy projectile with this electric rod uses some weapon's battery. There is an achievement called "Homerun" that is earned by destroying an enemy Titan with deflected projectiles.

In multiplayer, this weapon can only be acquired by activating the corresponding boost, which is acquired at 69% of Titan build meter and in Frontier Defense modes, this weapon can be bought with 500 in-game credits. Unlike the campaign counterpart, the melee weapon in Multiplayer counterpart can't be retrieved once thrown.

Variants[]

There are variants of electrified javelins with varying degrees of effectiveness. These variants are also available in the multiplayer modes and Frontier Defense.

Three-Pronged Javelin[]

"Anti-Titan high-voltage rod."
―In-game short description

Upgraded version of Electrified Javelin, come with three prongs on the end of this melee weapon. However, the speed of melee attacks are considerably slower than a base variant, though it is compensated by its higher damage output, addition of tiny splash damage and longer chain lightning effects.

Its alternate stance is ranged-attack mode, which shoots a bolt of lightning out of the end that damages targets from short range and can be charged to unleash a more powerful chain lightning attack that damages if not kill multiple targets at once. However, the user is unable to dual-wield a sidearm with this high-voltage rod.

When thrown, this javelin variant have larger splash damage and chain lightning range alongside increased direct hit damage and its damage-over-time (that is increased on direct hits).

Double-Ended Javelin[]

"Anti-materiel twin rod."
―In-game short description

Both ends of this electrified javelin variant are both sharp and highly-conductive. Can perform sprinting run attacks and basic melee attacks with this weapon are performed and charged faster than a base variant.

As with three-pronged variant, the user are unable to wield both a sidearm and this electric rod variant at the same time and instead, it has an alternate dual-wield stance where this melee weapon are separated into two parts, one for each hands, increasing the speed of melee attacks but reduces damage. Also, airborne attacks with this alternate stance are leaping pounce instead of aerial drop. Note that each part of this twin rod have separate batteries even if consolidated into one on its default stance mode.

Chain lightning effect from thrown double-ended javelins are omni-directional, meaning it can kill targets within large radius as this chain lightning can target enemies regardless of the direction of the throw. However when using dual-wield stance, the user can throw one part of this twin rod and an another part, though damage for each thrown part is less than a thrown base electrified javelin.

Electrified bayonet[]

There is also an attachment version of these electric rods that can be attached to the underbarrel of the most weapons that acts as a bayonet. However unlike the standalone counterpart, this can't be thrown nor used to perform airborne drop attacks and it has slightly shorter lunging range and battery capacity.

Attaching this electric rod variant to any compatible weapon will slow down draw time by 30% and aiming-down-sights time by 8%.
